Professor Emeritus Henry J. (Hank) Levy was the founder and director of the Jazz Studies program at Towson University (then Towson State College) from 1968 to 1999.
During his tenure, Hank wrote hundreds of original big band charts and other compositions performed by his Towson State student ensemble and professional jazz legends such as Stan Kenton and Don Ellis.
The mission of the Hank Levy Jazz Foundation is encourage cultural and intellectual activities for the benefit and enjoyment of all audiences.
The Hank Levy Jazz Foundation strives to be recognized as a leader in music education and music performance collaborative specializing in the compositions of Baltimore native and jazz pioneer Henry J. (Hank) Levy.
The Foundation accomplishes this vision through a variety of avenues including performance of the Hank Levy Legacy Band among other performing ensembles.
Established in 2017, the Hank Levy Jazz Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization .
The Hank Levy Jazz Foundation exists within diverse socioeconomic and ethnic culture that reflects all of Central Maryland.
We celebrate and support a harmony of artistic art forms, which together represent the most profound artistic abilities and expressions of the human race.
We support and promote the transformative power of change which comes from inspired performances of the arts to receptive audiences.
